Meet Anna
Anna Spoerle Cook is a veteran educator with over 35 years of experience in the school systems of Indianapolis. She was a teacher for 13 years and started her career as a 1st grade teacher, followed by teaching experiences in 4th and 5th grade as well as Intermediate Multiage instruction. She transitioned to school and district level leadership, serving as director for EL and High Ability Programs, Title I, II, and III and Coordinator of Learning Support, which included grants coordinator, and Literacy K-8, where she implemented, in her district, a Comprehensive Literacy program, K-8. She also served as an interim principal for a grade 7-12, Expeditionary Learning, a Small Community School. She was a district administrator for 22 years.
Anna is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Indianapolis teaching courses on:
- Literacy Instruction in grades K-8
- Reading in the Content areas
- Literacy Interventions/supports for students in Secondary
- Educational Leadership
Anna's Background
After retiring from public school education, Anna was a Literacy Specialist for the Midwest region, at Scholastic Inc., where she fulfilled Professional Learning contracts on various aspects of Literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention.
Anna earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University /Bloomington and has a M.S. degree in Education Administration from Butler University in Indianapolis. She also holds a secondary administration and supervision credential from the University of Indianapolis as well as a Literacy Collaborative coaching/leader certification and Reading Recovery training from Purdue University.
